The national parks are protected as much as possible, but ultimately it comes back to the people who visit them. There is a lot of reasons for you to work hard to take care of the parks as well so that everyone can enjoy the rewards of keeping Southern Illinois beautiful.

How to Keep Forests Beautiful

shawnee national forestEach year, there are many people who go to the national parks around Illinois. They go hiking, they go exploring and camping. They do a variety of things within the forests, searching for waterfalls, wild life, and more. Perhaps they simply want to capture that one scenic view on photographs that makes their trip more special. It is the scenery that people love the most. It is truly majestic, but it takes a little effort from all who venture into the area. When you leave, you should take the things you come in with, back home with you. This includes trash. Even something as small as a gum wrapper may be something that messes up the view for someone in the future; especially if every person who walks through the forest drops one or two along the way. It wouldn’t take long for it to end up looking more like a landfill than one of the most scenic places on earth.

Why It Matters

trash in the forestBeyond the beauty of the area, it is important that we pick up our trash as we leave because not doing so could damage the forest as a whole. Animals may end up snacking on the paper that you leave behind or step on a piece of metal that you have forgotten to take home. It is a forest that is filled with animals who need a clean area to thrive in. The only things that should be in it are those that are naturally placed there by mother nature. Otherwise, a lot of the animals that are there may not be able to live happily there any longer. And, that would be a true shame for all nature lovers.
